
Steve Dunlap began Dunlap Consulting Services LLC in 2004 after an 18 year Engineering career in Research & Development of Air Conditioning and Heating Products. Initially the company focused on assisting manufacturers of HVACR equipment in development and testing of both commercial and Mil-spec equipment. Engineering and investment consultants began utilizing Steve as an HVACR Subject Matter Expert for technical assessments and problem resolutions.
At the same time, Steve embarked on an energy engineering career with Alabama's largest independent natural gas distributor providing technical services to customers and marketing representatives. The experience provided unique insights into the utility business and energy markets. To further his career, Steve joined the ESCO business unit at Honeywell as an energy performance contracting engineer. During this time, his consulting company continued to provide support services for gas utilities, small specialty manufacturers, engineering consultants and property owners. To expand his market space, Steve joined Sain Engineers Associates (SEA) a recognized leader in performing worldwide energy audits for U.S. Military installations. In this role, Steve performed Level 1 - III audits including 30% design criteria development for the Army Corp of Engineers. As a subject matter expert, Steve performed in-situ testing of chiller efficiencies (both air and water cooled) to establish baseline performance and evaluate performance degradation with age. Today Steve continues as an independent engineering consultant and contractor assisting clients in identifying and implementing energy reduction strategies.
